1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The iRobot Roomba i3+ is an excellent robot vacuum with several smart features that make it easier to maintain. The automatic bin emptying feature is among the best features we've ever seen in a robot vacuum. It's great on both carpets and hard floors. It's also easy to set up and operate with the app that guides you step-by-step through the process. Another feature that is impressive is the ability to return to the spot where it was when we tested it. It did this for 77 mins on one cleaning before running out of battery.
In contrast to other robovacs we've evaluated, the i3+ EVO features self-emptying bins that dump debris into an external dirt compartment on the base of its charging when it's full. The i3+ EVO can be prevented from overfilling thanks to a self-emptying container. However it still needs to be manually emptied at the end of each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO's built-in dust bin holds 2.4L of waste and is enough to get it through five or four cleaning sessions before you have to replace it.
Like the i7, this model uses state-of-the-art floor tracking sensors to create maps and navigate neat rows. However, the i3+ EVO only stores one map, while the i7 can store multiple. The i7 can also use its map to create no-go zones and virtual barriers, however the i3+ EVO cannot.
Although the i3+ EVO is better at picking up debris on surfaces than the other robovacs we looked at however, it's not the most effective in terms of cleaning edges and corners. It's also less gentle on furniture, despite being remarkably silent. It was a bit rough on furniture as it pushed chairs away. It also caused collisions against the sides of the bed.
2. Black & Decker Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro is an excellent choice for expanding your collection of robot vacuums or just starting out. It packs a lot of power, smart navigation and easy automation into a slick design at an affordable price. It's the best value for the money on the market at the moment and is even better than the Roborock models that are more expensive in many ways.
This robot is excellent in cleaning floors that are dirty, and its avoidance tech assists it in staying clear of furniture legs or other obstacles. The only issue is that it's more noisy than other models and doesn't perform as well in our satisfaction of the owner and predicted reliability tests.
The Q5 Pro has a very large dust bin of 770ml which means you won't need to empty it as frequently as some other 2-in-1 robots. The Q5 Pro's 240 minute running time is also impressive when contrasted with other 2-in-1 robots we tested. It also provides incredible navigation and obstacle avoidance.
This model makes use of a dToF internal LiDAR sensor to create a map of your home, resulting in efficient cleaning routes. The iMop received high marks for its coverage and navigation. It also did an excellent job of avoiding obstacles such as furniture. It also finds its way back to the base station if it is unable to recharge its batteries during an exercise of cleaning.
It also comes with a spot cleaning mode that allows you to mop or clean the specific area of your floor. It can also be programmed to follow a certain path. This is great if you have narrow hallways or stairs. It was capable of cleaning carpets during our carpet cleaning review, but it struggled with higher pile carpets and rugs. It is also possible to set it to automatically lift the mop pad when it comes in contact with carpet. This is a great option if you wish to avoid mowing your carpets.
